Stripe fee calculator

Stripe payment processor fees start at 2.9% + $0.30 for US cards. Compare the fee per sale, monthly total, and net payout.

Stripe's published US rate for standard domestic cards is 2.9% + $0.30. International cards add 1.5%, and currency conversion adds 1%. Subscriptions add 0.7% for Stripe Billing on pay-as-you-go. An EEA account pays 1.5% + €0.25 for standard EEA cards and 3.15% + €0.25 for the international cards this draft groups together. Stripe is the payment processor, so you still handle sales tax and VAT. The table compares all six providers and marks Stripe. Rates checked 3 Nov 2026.

What the estimate leaves out

Stripe

  • US rates are from https://stripe.com/pricing/local-payment-methods. Domestic cards are 2.9% + $0.30, international cards add 1.5%, and currency conversion adds 1%.
  • EEA rates are from https://stripe.com/en-ie/pricing/local-payment-methods. Standard EEA cards are 1.5% + €0.25. The fixed fee is counted as $0.25 in this USD estimate.
  • Stripe Billing pay-as-you-go is 0.7% of subscription volume, from https://stripe.com/billing/pricing. One-time payments do not include it. The annual Billing contract is not modeled.
  • Stripe Tax Basic is 0.5% where you are registered to collect tax. It is not included.
  • Managed Payments, Stripe's merchant-of-record product, is not included.
  • Disputes, instant payouts, and manual card entry are not included.

Polar

  • Starter is the public rate for organizations created on or after 27 May 2026.
  • Pro is $20 per month at 3.8% + $0.40. Growth is $100 per month at 3.6% + $0.35. Scale is $400 per month at 3.4% + $0.30. The table uses Starter only.
  • Organizations created before 27 May 2026 can keep Early Member pricing of 4% + $0.40, plus 0.5% on subscription payments. Moving to a paid plan drops that rate.
  • Payout fees charged by Stripe are passed through and are not included. Disputes are $15 and are not included.

Paddle

  • The pricing page does not list an international card surcharge or a subscription surcharge.
  • A payout in a currency other than the balance currency can include a conversion margin of up to 1.5%. SWIFT wires can cost $15. Neither is included.
  • Chargebacks are a separate fee. They are not included.
  • supastarter does not ship a Paddle integration.

Lemon Squeezy

  • The docs calculate the platform fee on the total order value, including tax. The tax field in this calculator does that for every provider.
  • The international surcharge is described as transactions outside the US. The docs do not say whether that follows the card country or the billing country. This draft treats it as non-US cards.
  • PayPal adds 1.5%. This estimate assumes cards.
  • Bank payouts outside the US cost 1% and are not included. US bank payouts are free.

Creem

  • The pricing page states the same rate for every card type and country, and for subscriptions.
  • Bank payouts cost 7 USD or 1% of the payout, whichever is higher, from the Creem payout docs. They are not included.
  • Revenue splits and the affiliate program add 2% each when used. Abandoned-cart recovery adds 5% on recovered orders. None of those are included.

Dodo Payments

  • Domestic US cards and wallets are 4% + $0.40 on the standard plan. International cards and alternative methods outside the US add 1.5%. Subscriptions add 0.5%.
  • PayPal and buy-now-pay-later add 3%. ACH is 1.5% capped at $15, and SEPA direct debit is 1.5% capped at €15. Those replace or add to the card rate and are not included.
  • India local cards and UPI are 4% + $0.15. That rate is not modeled.
  • Currency conversion is not added. Dodo's pricing page describes an extra charge when the merchant absorbs buyer-currency pricing, and that schedule is not in this draft.
  • Refunds are $1, disputes are $30, and payouts under $1,000 cost $5. None of those are included.

The Next.js, Nuxt, and TanStack Start boilerplates include checkout, subscriptions, and webhooks for Stripe, Lemon Squeezy, Creem, Polar, and Dodo Payments. Paddle is in this calculator because founders compare it. It is not a built-in provider.
